Most people start shopping for custom blinds by looking for a price, and most websites make that surprisingly hard. Some show a percent-off sale on a list price nobody pays. Others ask for your phone number before saying anything at all. This guide does the opposite: it lists the installed price ranges we quote every week across the Greater Toronto Area, explains what is included, and shows what pushes a window to the top or bottom of its range.
Every figure below is an installed price — custom manufacture to the millimetre, hardware, and professional installation. There is no separate measure fee and no travel fee, whether you are in Pickering, Markham, Oakville or anywhere in between. If you want a number for your own windows, use the price range form on this page or send a photo on WhatsApp.
Installed price per window, by product
These ranges are for a standard window up to about 48 inches wide unless noted. They match the figures on our installed pricing guide.
| Product | Installed price per window | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Zebra blinds | $180–$320 | Wide windows and blackout zebra run $320–$500 |
| Roller shades | From $170 | Light-filtering, solar screen or blackout fabric |
| Vertical blinds | $220–$400 | Usually patio doors and wide sliders |
| Motorized blinds | $450–$900 | Depends on width and battery vs hardwired; hub once per home |
| Adding a motor to zebra or roller | Roughly +$180–$280 | Per window |
What a whole house usually costs
Per-window prices are useful, but most people are pricing a room or a house. As a rough guide, a condo with five or six windows plus a balcony slider often lands between $1,200 and $2,200 in zebra and roller shades. A typical three-bedroom GTA home with 15 to 20 windows usually falls somewhere around $3,000 to $5,500, depending on the mix of products and how many windows are oversized.
Those figures shift quickly with motorization. Motorizing only the hard-to-reach windows — a two-storey great room or a stairwell — is a common compromise that keeps the total sensible while solving the windows you genuinely cannot reach.
Drapery and shutters are quoted per opening after measuring, because fabric choice, fullness and frame style vary so much. We quote them on the same visit as blinds so everything arrives on one written quote.
What moves a quote up or down
01 — Window size. Width matters more than height. Anything over about 48 inches moves into a larger fabric and tube size, and very wide spans may need to be split.
02 — Fabric. Light-filtering fabrics sit at the low end, blackout and designer textures at the high end. Solar screens are in the middle.
03 — Motorization. A motor adds roughly $180–$280 per window, and a Wi-Fi hub is a single extra item for the whole home.
04 — Mount and trim. Cassettes, valances and side channels for blackout add a little per window.
05 — Special shapes. Arched, angled and bay windows take more measuring and sometimes custom hardware.
06 — Quantity. Larger orders do not change the per-window price much, but they do make a single install visit more efficient.
What is included, and what is not
Our installed price includes the free in-home consultation with samples, measuring every window, custom manufacture in 7–15 business days, all brackets and hardware, professional installation, removal of old blinds on request, and a five-year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's fabric and mechanism warranty.
There is no measure fee, no travel fee, and no inflated 'before' price that gets discounted. What is not included: electrical work for hardwired motors, which needs a licensed electrician if a new outlet or low-voltage run is required. We will tell you at the consultation whether a window needs it.
How to compare quotes fairly
When you collect quotes from different companies, ask each one for an installed price per window with the same fabric opacity, the same mount and the same motor if any. Ask whether measuring, installation and old-blind removal are included, and how long the workmanship warranty is — not just the fabric warranty.
Be careful with large percent-off sales. A blind marked down 60 or 80 percent from a list price is only cheap if the list price was real. Comparing the final installed price per window is the only way to know.
Prices by area
Prices are the same across the GTA. There is no surcharge for Markham, Oakville, Mississauga or Brampton compared to our home base in Pickering. What does differ by area is the kind of window: Markham and Richmond Hill new builds often have tall great-room glass, Oakville has a lot of lake- and west-facing windows, and downtown and Scarborough condos have floor-to-ceiling walls of glass. The area pages linked below explain what we typically install in each.
